Local Christian pastors put aside minor theological differences to gather and pray for Burien and each other. During their prayers, Jesus impressed on them to take care of the poor and suffering in practical and tangible ways as a united front of Christian churches in Burien. Now, 24 years later, we are still praying together and working in unity as one church in Burien for those in need. We love and appreciate our guests, donors, community, partners, and volunteers. Transform is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Transform’s outreach center exists to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action. We host many services that help those experiencing homelessness and poverty meet their basic needs. In 2022, we served over 13,000 hot meals in the cafeteria, handed out over 4,000 sack lunches, and provided over 3,800 trips each to both our food bank and clothing bank. Our volunteers donated more than 6,000 hours of their time to make this possible. A Message from our Director, Paul Ott
Transform is pleased to introduce our new Outreach Director Paul Ott! We also warmly welcome Paul’s wife Kim who provides administrative support and lots of friendly sunshine. Paul, and his wife, bring with them genuine “service oriented” hearts. This is exemplified by their past 13 years of living and working overseas. Both of them have exciting new ideas for Transform, and we can’t wait to see how God will use this couple as He continues to work in our communities. Below are some words from Paul.
When I began volunteering at Transform in September of 2022, the Holy Spirit planted a seed in my heart. That combined with my desire to remain involved in full-time ministry brought me to the realization that I wanted to be part of the inspiring work God has been doing through Transform and to contribute in a deeper way. That seed has become a growing passion in me, a heartfelt desire to serve the people who come to Transform seeking help and love.
The needs in our community are growing, and here at Transform we will continue to boldly respond to those needs. I have learned through my own personal experience that we can set many goals, but without God directing those goals we won’t be on the right path. As Transform’s Outreach Director, I am excited about serving alongside our amazing team of volunteers as we seek God’s direction. I look forward to strengthening our network to serve as a resource hub for our neighbors experiencing poverty and homelessness.
I begin each day by preparing my own heart to be available as a servant for Jesus. I thoroughly enjoy working with our guests, building personal connections. Loving them one on one, I hear people’s stories and see their growth. Meanwhile, I continue to hone my skills working with people from different backgrounds and faiths.
Even in the few months I’ve been here, I’ve already witnessed many “God moments.” Almost daily I see His divine handywork impacting the lives of those who frequent Transform. As I step humbly into this leadership role, with my wife Kim by my side, I feel like we’re at the beginning of a really good story. I invite you to be a part of Transform’s story, too.
