About Us

Our History

Local Christian pastors put aside minor theological differences to gather and pray for Burien and each other. During their prayers, Jesus impressed on them to take care of the poor and suffering in practical and tangible ways as a united front of Christian churches in Burien. Now, 24 years later, we are still praying together and working in unity as one church in Burien for those in need. We love and appreciate our guests, donors, community, partners, and volunteers. Transform is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Impact

Transform’s outreach center exists to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action. We host many services that help those experiencing homelessness and poverty meet their basic needs. In 2022, we served over 13,000 hot meals in the cafeteria, handed out over 4,000 sack lunches, and provided over 3,800 trips each to both our food bank and clothing bank. Our volunteers donated more than 6,000 hours of their time to make this possible. A Word From Our Director, Greg Henken

Greg Henken, Transform Burien Outreach Director

At Transform, we are passionate about responding to Jesus’ call to love our neighbors and to serve the “least of these.” We see our center as a healthy home-base for people – a place of love and comfort, a place to be heard and accepted, and a place where recovery can begin. People experiencing homelessness and poverty find basic necessities here. More importantly, they are warmly welcomed and recognized as worthy individuals. Our team is called to open our hearts to accept them for who they are, no matter what their lives look like right now.

As Director, I seek to help Transform grow in response to the growing needs within our communities. Let’s put God’s word into action. Let’s bring compassion and understanding as we serve people who are sometimes facing their most difficult times.

Some of our guests have been abandoned over and over in their lives. They may rarely hear their own names, or get a hug. Here, we get to know them. They are our friends. We use their names. I make it a practice to offer an embrace, and let me tell you, I get a lot of hugs.

I am so pleased to see the surrounding communities supporting our work. People stepping up to volunteer, or donating their time and resources – these contributions help make it possible to deliver these essential services. Together, we are helping our neighbors in the most basic of ways. For all these things, I am thankful.

Be Well,
God Bless.
